Tokayev re-elected as the Senate’s Chairman

Kasym-Zhomart Tokayev has been re-elected as the chairman of the Senate.

Tokayev's candidacy was proposed by the President of Kazakhstan, voicing it in his letter to the Senate plenary session. Following the secret ballot, the candidacy was supported by the deputies unanimously. A day ago Mr. Tokayev renewed his membership in the Senate by the President's decree.

Kasym-Zhomart Tokayev is the chairman of the Senate since October 16, 2013. At various times, he was Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations, Director-General of the UN Office in Geneva, Secretary-General of the Conference on Disarmament.
