Kazakhstan supported the political declaration on the United Nations reform, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan reports.

Minister Kairat Abdrakhmanov took part in the high-level event in support of the UN's development. The event was held on the initiative of the United States President on September 18 in New York. President Nursultan Nazarbayev announced the improvement of the UN work as one of the seven main priorities of Kazakhstan's work as a non-permanent member of the Security Council.

According to the ministry, the UN reform Declaration is in line with Kazakhstan's basic approaches in this area.

"Global challenges will continue to arise, and if the Organization cannot become more flexible and effective, this will be most acute in terms of vulnerability to those who suffer from various conflicts and crises around the world and their consequences," notes President Nazarbayev in his Manifesto "The World. XXI century" in April 2016.

The US-initiated declaration contains such directions as strengthening the role of the Secretary-General, increasing the accountability and transparency of the entire UN system, improving management, reducing duplication among the Organization's structures, improving staff management and budget planning.
