Today in his official residence, Prime Minister Bakytzhan Sagintayev met with the Chief of IMF’s (International Monetary Fund) Mission for Kazakhstan Mark Horton.

During the meeting, sides discussed issues of interaction with the IMF on macroeconomic and fiscal policy, as well as the activities of the banking sector. In addition, they talked about the implementation of the large-scale programs Nurly Zhol and 100 Concrete Steps, the privatization program and the prospects of Astana International Financial Centre.

For reference:

In the first years of independence, Kazakhstan used its right to receive material assistance from the IMF. Thanks to the positive dynamics of the economy, Kazakhstan repaid its obligations under the IMF credit lines on May 24, 2000.

To date, Kazakhstan focuses on interaction with the Fund about attracting technical assistance, taking into account the IMF's wide experience.
