Google Translate adds Kazakh to voice translation

The Google’s technology Voice-to-Text opens new opportunities to users of Kazakh language.

According to Rauan Kenzhekhanuly, the executive director of the Public Foundation “National Translation Bureau”, after joining to the system Voice-to-Text the Kazakh language will become more accessible to digital services.

 Mr. Kenzhekhanuly reported that “National Translation Bureau” held successful negotiations with Google to include Kazakh to voice translation. 
“it is necessary to emphasize that recognition, processing, and translation of speech require complex engineering and linguistic solutions. After all, this is about 150 thousand words and phrases that need to be sounded and processed,” - said the speaker.

Further Mr. Kenzhekhanuly explained that the system will soon begin to show us some variances of the voice translations which need to be evaluated. However, linguists who have high professional qualifications and experience in this field should do an evaluation.

 The speakers marked out that the cost of the project is about 4 million tenge. He expressed gratitude to “Beeline” company for supporting the project.
