Modern slaves. Who are they?
When we say about slavery, we habitually recall an ancient slave society or African slaves, who were engaged in heavy bondage on American plantations in the nineteenth century. However, despite the fact that the slave system has already sunk into the past, the world has never stopped using people's labor, similar to slave labor.
The only difference is that now a person, regardless of his desire, is forced to perform certain duties not by force, not by violence, but by various other methods and tricks. How exactly, you ask. That is how those who adhere to this point of view explain it.
Firstly, the modern “slave” has only enough wages for a month. Peoples should pay to house, buy food, clothes, cover travel expenses, and so he has to work all his life.
Secondly, artificial demand for unnecessary goods by means of television advertising, fashion and other methods of influence is a method of the hidden motivation of "slaves" to work. He has no other option in order to buy a "new" thing besides work.
Thirdly, the modern “slave” comes across the tricks of the loan system. In order to close one loan, he is forced to take another. Ultimately, because of the mechanism of interest rates, he does not get out of debt all his life. You have to work again to get rid of them.
Fourthly, the popular legend in the world about the state, equally concerned with the interests of all population groups, is also a way to attract modern “slaves” to work. In fact, it only works on a structure that protects the interests of “slaveholders”. Moreover, the money earned by the “slave” is again withdrawn from him in the form of payment for various purchased goods and services, taxes and payments and again fall into the pocket of the “slaveholder”.
The fifth kind of hidden compulsion of a “slave” to work is inflation and recurring crises. And here the “slave” loses much more than the “slaveholder”. The rise in prices in the absence of wage growth creates convenient conditions for the hidden robbery of the “slave”. In times of crisis, that can manifest itself in an open forum. During massive workplace cuts, the “slave is fired from his or her company and deprived of all income which makes him even poorer.
In order to force the “slave” to work for free, one should hide information about the specific value of his labor and the products produced by him, as well as about the share of the “slaveowner”. For this reason, the income of the "slave" will remain invariably low, and he will have to continue to work continuously.
Another way of implicit compulsion of a "slave" to work is an ideology that convinces him that he is not a slave, and works insofar as he himself wants it. "This is your choice!" - such a concept is formed in his mind.
One of the mechanisms by which a "slave" will become carelessly working is religion. She teaches patiently to bear the difficulties that have fallen to his lot, preaches that he who works hard in the sweat, experiencing hardship, will live justly and humanely in the next world.
In connection with such circumstances, a person works all his life. Probably, it would be appropriate to cite one rather typical example related to this point of view. It is a cell phone. People obsessed with the desire to have a cell phone that is neither clothing nor food. If it is worthwhile to appear a new model, we trying to get the novelty. In addition, they are not cheap. This behavior demonstrates the obvious dependence of a person on a cell phone. So what is this, if not slavery?
