Speaker Tokayev comments relations between North Korea and South Korea

Kazakhstan’s Chairman of the Senate Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev commented the last changes between the Democratic People's Republic of Korea and the Republic of Korea as a positive shift, wrote on his Twitter.

On November 3, according to the decree of leader Kim Jong-un North Korea reopened phone line to South Korea after two years. In addition, the International Olympic Committee welcomes the desire of North Korea to compete in the 2018 Winter Olympics in PyeongChang.

‘Restoration of a communication line between North Korea and South Korea is a positive shift, gives hope for easing tension on peninsula. IOC made a right decision to welcome North Korea’s sportsmen at Winter Olympic Games in South Korea’, commented Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.

Recall, earlier South Korea suggests high-ranking government negotiations with North Korea on January 9. The last talks between these two countries at the level of government held in December 2015.
