To know the reasons of the black snow in the region Temirtau’s Mayor Ashimov Galym sent a letter to the Department of Ecology, reports Olga Goryacheva, the press secretary of the Mayor.

Citizens believe that the reason for the smell and black snow are the emissions from the factory ‘Arcelor Mittal Temirtau’. Residents feel the familiar scent in the air. Especially, it is felt in the area where the company located. They are worried about the health of children; parents do not allow them to walk outside.

Earlier, the AMT specials said that they carefully observe the protection of the environment; the cleaning devices are permanently functioning. Specialists monitor the indicators of air and water pollution; follow the norms for waste production and soil protection. However, the organization has already fined several times because of these reasons. Kazakhstan weather forecasters also proved that Temirtau is one of the cities with the dirtiest air, and over the last years, there have been no improvements on the air.

Recall, in April 2017, the local government already addressed a similar letter to ecologists. However, the reasons for anomaly did not check. It is unknown whether a verification will make based on a letter from the Mayor.
