Wage increase for teachers by 30-50% in Kazakhstan

Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev instructed to increase the salaries for teachers, who teach according to the updated standard of education by 30-50 percent, he informed in his annual Address to the Kazakhstanis.

‘To increase the prestige of the profession of the teacher, I instruct, from January 1, 2018, the official salary of teachers who pass to the updated contents of the teaching material, to increase by 30 percent’, he stressed.

Updated content is modern curricula that meet international standards, also adapted by Nazarbayev Intellectual Schools. It will provide the necessary functional literacy and critical thinking to students.

In addition, the President instructed that to do a new grid of categories for teachers, considering the level of qualifications, which shows in gaps between categories.

‘Categories should be appropriated through the national qualification test that is done all over the world. It will stimulate teachers to continual improvement. As a result, depending on the confirmed qualification, the total salary of teachers will grow from 30 to 50%’, Nazarbayev said.

 

To do the instruction, an additional 67 billion tenge allocate in this year.
