Women’s praying near school caused consternation in Aktobe

The photo of girls who prayed namaz near the school in Aktobe commented as an offence against the law commented Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Civil Affairs and Society.

The Ministry mentioned that it has to be done in a mosque or in the specific places where the authorities are obliged.

‘The place named ‘namazhana’ is located in airports, on railways, in bus stations and supermarkets. The prayer room has to be located 300 meters away from the building of the educational center. It is forbidden to pray on the street, in the houses of culture, in government institutions by the article’ said Deputy Chairman of the Religious Affairs Committee Balgabek Myrzaev.

He also stressed that parents are obliged to observe the laws of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the corresponding order of the profile Ministry and the internal charter of the Educational Institution.

The Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan ‘On Education’ states that students in secondary education organisations are obliged to comply with the requirements for compulsory school uniforms established by the authority of education institutions. It does not infringe their rights, just require adherence to established rules. Nobody prohibits to wear hijabs in their free time, we ask only to take off the scarves inside the school itself’, Balgabek added.

 Recall, yesterday, the photos of students in niqab who prayed near the school as a protest against the government's ban on wearing hijabs in schools, flew around social networks.
