Kazakhstan earned $2.5 billion by leasing Baikonur

During the lease of the Baikonur complex, Kazakhstan earned 2.645 billion dollars, said Kazakhstan’s Prime Minister Bakytzhan Sagintayev.

The issue of creating an entertainment and tourist zone ‘Baikonur’ in the territory of the Karmakshy district is under consideration. It would also create several thousand new jobs.

He also mentioned that the city's residents are not restricted by political convictions, race and nationality, social origin, sex, social or property status, language and religion.

‘The agreement between Kazakhstan and the Russian Federation on the development of cooperation on the effective use of the Baikonur complex determined on January 9, 2004. It shows that Kazakhstani and Russian specialists participate in the implementation of joint projects at the Baikonur cosmodrome on the same terms. The legal framework establishes the principle of non-discrimination at the interstate level’, replied the Prime Minister.
