Kazakh President met with akims of Astana, Almaty and regions

During the meeting, the Head of State directed the akims’ (Mayors) attention to the need to control the stability of food prices and tariff regulation, reports the Akorda press service.

Nursultan Nazarbayev emphasized the importance of an uninterrupted heating season in the regions.

In addition, Kazakh President instructed the Cabinet together with the regional akims to organize measures for early warning and prevention of floods in the spring.

The Head of State suggested considering the possibility of accumulating meltwater in reservoirs and their use for agricultural needs.

‘At the level of rural settlements, with more than two thousand people, there will be a local self-government. This is the fourth level of the budget. The collection of 7 types of taxes has been transferred to the regions, and there are also expenses in 19 directions. According to preliminary analysis, only 11 percent of rural districts can be self-sufficient and able to cover expenses from their own income. Therefore, the Cabinet, together with the regional authorities, should take this issue under control’, Nursultan Nazarbayev said.

Kazakh President stressed the need to broadly explaining the importance of projects and development programs for the country and pointed out the need to involve Nur Otan Party in this activity.

Akim of Astana, akims of Kyzylorda, Karaganda and East Kazakhstan regions made speeches at the meeting.
