9 000 websites blocked in Kazakhstan

In 2017, about 9 000 websites blocked in Kazakhstan, said Kazakhstan’s Information and Communications Minister Dauren Abayev.

"About 9 000 websites promoting terrorism, extremism, violence and suicide were closed in 2017, 230,000 such materials were destroyed," he said.

The Minister noted that Kazakhstan in 2017 rose by five points in terms of the number of Internet users, taking 36th place out of 137 countries in the World Economic Forum rating.

The number of Internet users was 77 percent of the total population (4 percent more than in 2016).According to the minister, users of the Internet to increase to 78 percent by 2018.
