Kazakhstan population exceeds 18 million by February 1

On February 1, 2018, population Kazakhstan is 18 million 177,7 thousand people. Compared to February 1, 2017, this indicator increased by 240.6 thousand people, or 1.3%, reports the press service of Kazakhstan’s Ministry of National Economy.

The number of urban population was 10,439.6 thousand people (57.4%), rural - 7,738.1 thousand people (42.6%).

The number of births in January 2018 was 33.3 thousand people, which is 4.4% more than for the corresponding period of 2017. The total fertility rate per 1000 people was 21.42.

Compared to the January 2017, the natural increase in the population increased by 2.5 thousand people, or by 13.1%, and amounted to 21.5 thousand people. The natural increase per 1000 population was 13.83 people.

Also, the number of immigrants declined by 9.2% in January and made 1,360 people. The number of migrants grew by 34.9% and stood at 2,258 people.

The proportion of immigrants from the CIS countries made 78.1%. The number of citizens of Kazakhstan leaving for CIS countries stood at 86.7%.
