Astana honored the Memory of Victims of Political Repression and Famine

On May 31 the Day of Remembrance of the Victims of Political Repressions and Famine is marked in Kazakhstan in accordance with the Presidential Decree. That is why the City Administration for the Development of Languages and Archives Affairs organized a historical and informative evening in Astana, elorda.info informs.

The purpose of this event is to remind the young generation of the tragic pages of the history of people who were victims of the famine in the 1930s, political repression, and the hard life of women prisoners of the Akmola camp.

"Today we are talking about the victims of the Holodomor, the harsh measures taken against our people. For what? That our generation knew history, appreciated independence. It is important to honor the memory of the victims of 1937-1938. May 31 is a mourning day," said the head of the department for the development of languages and archives, Tileugali Kyshkashbayev.

During the event, a video presented to the audience on the events that took place in 1932-1938.

In addition, the actors of the State Academic Kazakh Music and Drama Theater named after K. Kuanyshbaev presented a performance.
