Askar Mamin holds first meeting of Governmental Commission on Development of Turkestan

The First Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Askar Mamin chaired the first meeting of the Governmental Commission on the Development of the City of Turkestan June 27.

At the meeting, issues related to the relocation of state bodies from Shymkent to Turkestan, the state of the city's engineering and communications infrastructure, the development of the General Plan of the City of Turkestan, and the further development of the regional economy were considered.

The Chairman of the Governmental Commission noted that June 19, 2018, a historic document was adopted — the Head of State signed the Decree on the establishment of the Turkestan region.

"Turkestan is the cultural and spiritual center of the Turkic world. Thanks to the strategic decision of the Head of State on the establishment of the Turkestan region and the transfer of the regional center to Turkestan, a powerful impetus will be given to the intensive development of the region. The city of Turkestan has great potential for development. First of all, it is necessary to prepare the Master Plan of the city, on the basis of which decisions will be made on infrastructure development," the First Deputy Prime Minister noted.

The Akim of the Turkestan region Zhanseit Tuimebayev, in his turn, said that in order to implement the Decree of the Head of State on the transfer of the regional center to the city of Turkestan, a special headquarters was created. A plan has been developed for the redeployment of administrative authorities from Shymkent to Turkestan. The main directions of social and economic development of the region, further development of the main objects of the energy infrastructure, water supply facilities, development of the transport and logistics system, service and tourist centers have been considered.

Akim of Turkestan Alipbek Usserbayev reported on the development of the infrastructure of the city, Vice Minister for Investments and Development K. Oskenbayev and Vice Minister of National Economy A. Zhumagulov spoke on the development of the concept of the Master Plan and the region's economy.

Following the meeting, Mamin gave a number of specific instructions to the state bodies and the akimat of the region to ensure the prompt transfer of regional government bodies from Shymkent to Turkestan.

The interested ministries and departments were instructed to start the preparation of sectoral general schemes for the development of the engineering and social infrastructure of Turkestan.

During the working trip Mamin also visited the infrastructure facilities of Turkestan.

Recall that for the fulfillment of the instructions of the Head of State for the development of the Turkestan region and the formation of Turkestan as a cultural and spiritual center of the Turkic world, a Government Commission headed by the First Vice Premier of Kazakhstan Askar Mamin was established.
