World banks and financial institutions: Kairat Kelimbetov announces AIFC’s strategic partners and first clients

In the press center of the Government, Governor of the Financial Center Kairat Kelimbetov told which companies were first to register in the Astana International Financial Center.

Kairat Kelimbetov said that the subsidiary of the Chinese State Development Bank was one of the first to be registered in the financial center.

"The world's largest banks such as Bank of China, ICBC, China Construction Bank are already filling bonds, exploring the possibility of opening within the jurisdiction of the AIFC. You know that the Bank of China and ICBC are already working in Kazakhstan, and ICBC has already opened an office in Astana ... The Development Bank of China is the largest bank in the world, it is bigger than the World Bank," said AIFC Governor Kairat Kelimbetov.

In addition, AIFC cooperates with all multilateral financial institutions, including the World Bank, the IMF, the EBRD, ADB, the Asian Infrastructure Investments Bank, the New Development Bank of the SCO countries. All of them are strategic partners of the AIFC.

In December 2015, the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan signed the Constitutional Law on the establishment of the Astana International Financial Center. The official opening of AIFC will be held within the framework of Astana Finance Days, in which, July 3-5, 2018, heads of foreign states, Nobel and Pulitzer Prize winners, as well as heads of international financial institutions will take part. More than 150 speakers from 40 countries will share their expertise and professional skills in various fields of economics, finance, ecology and information technology.

Kelimbetov said that before the official opening ceremony, 55 companies were registered in the AIFC, by the end of the current year about 100 companies are planned, and by the end of 2020 — 500 companies.

As the Deputy Chairman of the Astana International Exchange Amina Turgulova informed, such companies as Tsesna Capital, SkyBridge, Centras Securities, CICC and others are listed among the registered participants. Documents for registration were also filed by the Wood company, London.

"In addition, there are such large companies as Wex — the largest stock exchange platform for crypto-exchanges, Paycent —new payment instruments and Fusion," Chief Technology Officer at JSC AIFC Administration Asel Zhanassova noted.
