Foreign Minister meets with leadership of TURKPA and Turkic Academy

As part of preparations for the 6th Summit of the Cooperation Council of Turkic Speaking States (CCTS), to be held this September, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan Kairat Abdrakhmanov held meetings with Secretary General of the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic Speaking States (TURKPA) Altynbek Mamaiusupov and President of the International Turkic Academy Darkhan Kydyrali.

“President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev attaches special importance to the issues of Turkic cooperation, entering a new stage of its development. TURKPA is one of the pillars of Turkic integration and, in recent years, has become an internationally recognized institution of parliamentary diplomacy of Turkic speaking countries," said Mr. Abdrakhmanov at the meeting. According to the Minister, it is necessary to establish cooperation of TURKPA with international organizations, such as the UN, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly.

Altynbek Mamaiusupov informed about the current activities of TURKPA and the plans to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the organization. In particular, the head of TURKPA told about the preparations for the anniversary plenary session of the Assembly to take place this autumn in Turkey. “The Secretariat of the organization is actively working to harmonize the legislation of TURKPA member states, which should promote Turkic integration further. Kazakhstan is the initiator of the ideas advancing rapprochement of our peoples and, in this context, Astana is rightfully considered the pride of the Turkic world," said the Secretary General of TURKPA.

At the meeting with the President of the International Turkic Academy, the Minister and his counterpart discussed further expansion of research in the field of Turkology and Turkic history. They also emphasized the need for an early completion of the Academy's institutionalization.

Mr. Kydyrali thanked the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for its support in the process of establishing the Academy. The institute will make a valuable contribution to the 6th CCTS Summit and, in general, further development of cooperation of Turkic speaking states in the field of science and research.
