Bakytzhan Sagintayev meets with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus in Kazakhstan

August 9 Ukimet Uyi Prime Minister Bakytzhan Sagintayev met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus in Kazakhstan Anatoly Nichkasov.

At the meeting, issues of trade and economic cooperation and expansion of partnership between Kazakhstan and Belarus in engineering, metallurgy, pharmaceuticals, chemical and food industries, construction, civil aviation, transport and logistics were discussed. Prospective directions of new investment projects in the field of agriculture, light industry, etc. were considered.

In 2017, the growth in mutual trade between the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Republic of Belarus increased by 56.4% compared to 2016, amounting to $604.1 million. In the first five months of 2018, there was also a positive growth in the turnover of the Kazakhstan-Belarus trade, 25.7% ($260.2 million).

For the period from 2005 to the first quarter of 2018, the gross inflow of direct investments from Belarus to Kazakhstan was $911.9 million. As of 1.06.2018, 408 legal entities, branches and representative offices with Belarusian participation were registered in Kazakhstan. The intergovernmental Kazakh-Belarusian commission for trade and economic cooperation has been functioning since 1996. The 14th meeting of the commission will be held in Brest in September. Active work is underway to agree on a new plan for joint activities for 2019-2020.
