10th International Kurultaj of Turan Peoples starts in Bugac, Hungary

President of the International Turkic Academy Darkhan Kydyrali took part in the 10th International Kurultaj in Bugac, Hungary. Representatives from about 30 countries from around the world visited the event, held on August 10-12.

The head of the Academy took part in the ceremony of laying flowers to the monument of the great Kazakh poet Abay Kunanbayuly in Budapest. The Kazakh, Kyrgyz and Bashkir delegations also participated in the event. Then Darkhan Kuandykuly met with the Vice Speaker of the Hungarian Parliament, leader of the Democratic Forum Mr. Shandor Lejak. Mr.Lejak praised the work of the Academy, and in turn, the head of the TWESCO expressed gratitude to the Vice President for his support of the Turkic Academy and awarded him TWESCO’s Gold Medal. In addition, the head of the Academy spoke at the Hungarian parliament.

During the Kurultaj of Turan Peoples, a special roundtable was held where the President of the Academy presented results of archaeological excavations conducted at the Shiveet Ulaan memorial complex in Mongolia. In addition, the International Turkic Academy and the Hungarian-Turan Foundation signed a Memorandum of Understanding. Moreover, President of the TWESCO awarded the Gold Medal of the International Turkic Academy to Andras Biro, the founder and ideologist of the Kurultaj of Turan Peoples.
