Asian Games 2018: Kazakhstan national flag was raised in a solemn ceremony

The Kazakhstani sports delegation has officially arrived at the Asian Games in Indonesia. A solemn ceremony of raising the national flag of Kazakhstan was held on August 16 in Jakarta.

The chef de mission of Kazakhstan Nationa Team in the Asian Games, the head of the Sports Department of Kazakhstan NOC Ilsiyar Kanagatov said:

"Today the national flag of our country was raised in the athletic village of the Asian Games in a solemn ceremony. The official start of competition is very close, although many sports have already begun to compete. Our teams arrive in Indonesia according to their schedule. More than 200 athletes are already stationed in Jakarta and Palembang and conducting their final training. Good Luck. Represent Kazakhstan at the highest level".

The deputy secretary general of Kazakhstan NOC Yeldos Ramazanov:

"Kazakhstan NOC together with the Ministry of Culture and Sport put an effort to provide quality training for Kazakhstan national teams to the Asian Games. Doctors who came with the teams provide a constant support to the teams. The President of Kazakhstan NOC Timur Kulibayev took a personal control of the preparation of the entire national team. We do hope that all efforts will bear fruit”

One of the leaders of the national team in artistic gymnastics Milad Karimi was at the ceremony. 

"We arrived in Jakarta yesterday. We settled in the athletic village. We are feeling great. We will perform on August 20. At the Asian Games I will perform for the first time. We arrived here as a one team. I am very proud to represent my country. We will do our best to raise our flag again". 

Summer Asian Games start on August 18. The competitions will be held in two cities - Jakarta and Palembang. In each of them there are sports villages. Kazakhstan national team is represented by 440 athletes, 404 of them will compete for medals in 25 Olympic sports in 37 sports disciplines.

As of today, there are 15 teams in Jakarta and 4 teams in Palembang for Olympic sports living in the athletic villages.
