Railway Administrations of Kazakhstan and Turkey signed agreement on strategic cooperation in Ankara

On September 12, 2018, the Agreement on Strategic Cooperation between “NC "Kazakhstan Temir Zholy" JSC and "TCDD Tasimacilik A.S." JSC was signed within the framework of the Kazakh-Turkish investment forum in Ankara.

The document aimed at strengthening bilateral relations in the field of railway transport, including machine building, was signed by Kanat Alpysbayev, Chairman of the Board of “NC “Kazakhstan Temir Zholy” JSC and Veysi Kurt, General Director of TCDD Tasimacilik AS.

The agreement provides for joint work in the development of transit potential and transport and logistics system in the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the TR within the framework of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Corridor.

 "A multimodal Trans-Caspian corridor has been formed between our countries, where the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway line and the port infrastructure in the Caspian contribute to the dynamic growth of transcontinental traffic. In 2018, fourfold growth in rail and road transport is expected in comparison with 2017. By 2020 it is proposed to increase the volume of transportation to 5 million tons, "Alpysbayev said.

Under the Agreement, the parties also agreed on the provision of competitive tariff conditions for containers, the creation of a consolidation and distribution center for the SEZ "Khorgos-Eastern Gate" for goods to and from Kazakhstan and China to / from Turkey.
