The final expedition of the Uly Dala Eline Sayahat project is called the New Silk Road. The route started September 17 in Almaty. Participants of the expedition will travel more than 3000 km for 13 days on the territory of Almaty, Zhambyl and Turkestan regions.

The organizer is Kazakh Tourism on the request of the Tourism Industry Committee of the Ministry of Culture and Sports. The route of the New Silk Road expedition is being realized by the NGO QazaqGeography.

The expedition includes experienced travelers, representatives of tour operators, foreign and Kazakhstani travel bloggers, as well as the team of National Geographic Russia.

Uly Dala Eline Sayahat is the largest expedition in the regions of Kazakhstan, it is conducted along six routes with coverage of six tourist clusters. The purpose of the expedition is to study natural, historical, sacred sites for the development of new tourist routes, the development of domestic tourism and infrastructure, as well as the study of the native country. In addition, materials about the expedition will popularize and increase the recognition of Kazakhstan as a tourist destination, and attract the population to domestic tourism. As a result, new tourist routes will be formed, illustrated guidebooks, a high-quality photo and video bank will be created about natural sites of the country, information on their condition will be updated.

From Almaty the expedition will go toward the Kazakh-Chinese border, making small stops in Zharkent and Khorgos. The participants will continue their journey to the village of Sata, located in one of the picturesque places of Kazakhstan, which is rightfully called the "pearl" of the Northern Tien Shan.

After passing several kilometers from Sata on impassability, it is possible to see incredible landscapes of high-mountainous Kolsai lakes and Kayyndy lakes. Kayyndy is a favorite place for eco-tourists, is located at an altitude of 1,867 metres above sea level and striking with its beauty. It was formed as a result of a strong earthquake in 1911 — a stone collapse blocked the gorge, forming a natural dam, and the water flooded the spruce forest. In the pure waters of the Kolsai Lakes, rainbow trout, bare Osman and several other species of fish are found.

Further the group will visit the Charyn Nature Park, where it will get acquainted with the canyons of Temirlik, Bestamak and the Valley of Castles. From there they will head to the Altyn-Emel State Natural Perk where they will see Aktau mountains and a tree more than 700 years old. Further — Singing barkhan, Shokan Ualikhanov's spring, Talhiz hillfort and on the sixth day of the expedition will return to Almaty. In Almaty, the group will have a trip to the high-mountain skating rink Medeo, Shymbulak and the Big Almaty Lake.

The next point in the route is the Tamgaly tract, it is one of the most ancient and outstanding monuments of the rock art of the Semirechie, since 2004 it has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Here in the middle of the last century various rock drawings were discovered. Tamgaly is located 170 km north-west of Almaty in the mountains of Anrakay.

After the Tamgaly, the expedition members will visit the archaeological and natural monuments of the Zhambyl region and the first one is the Akyrtas complex, which is 45 km from the city of Taraz and is included in the list of 100 sacral objects of Kazakhstan. In Taraz they will visit the mausoleums of Karakhan and Aisha-Bibi and the archaeological center “Ancient Taraz."

The beauty of the untouched nature, the world of amazing flora and fauna is to be seen by our travelers in one of the oldest reserves in Central Asia and Kazakhstan — Aksu-Zhabagly. It is located on the territory of Zhambyl and Turkestan regions.

Sairam-Ugam Nature Park, located in the north-eastern part of the western Tien Shan, is the next point in the route of the expedition. Here they will visit one of the most beautiful nature reserves — high-altitude lake Sayramsu, located at an altitude of 2350 metres.

The territory of the Turkestan region is rich in archaeological and historical monuments. The Otyrar and Sauran hillforts, the mausoleums of Arystan-Bab and Khoja Ahmed Yassaui, and many other objects are of great interest to travelers and researchers.

The Great Silk Road, which was the connecting thread between East and West, had a great influence on the trade, economic and cultural development of the countries through which it passed.

Kazakh Tourism National Company was established by the Government in July 2017. The main tasks are the promotion of the country's tourism potential abroad, as well as attracting investments in the tourist industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

QazaqGeography operates in five areas: geography, climate; environment, natural resources; biodiversity; tourism, travel, local history; historical and cultural heritage, ethnography. At present there are 11 representative offices in Kazakhstan.
