October 22, 2018, the First Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Askar Mamin took part and spoke at the plenary session of the Eurasian Week international forum: “The Real Sector of the EAEU Economy: Enhancing the Potential in the Course of Integration” in Yerevan.

The Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan addressed the Forum participants with a welcoming speech. He stressed the importance of the Eurasian Week Forum and expressed hope for effective discussions that will contribute to strengthening cooperation within the EAEU.

The Forum was attended by about 2,000 participants and over 150 speakers, including First Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Anton Siluanov, Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus Igor Petrishenko, Vice Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Zhenish Razakov, Chairman of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission Tigran Sargsyan, government ministers, heads of state corporations and business representatives of the EAEU member states.

First Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Askar Mamin emphasized in his speech that the EAEU member states are faced with a serious task — reducing the consequences of the upcoming cyclical deceleration of the global economy.

At the same time, noted Mamin, thanks to the coordinated policy of the EAEU countries, there are mechanisms that can counter negative trends.

“The implementation of directions for the development of a common economic space, the creation of unimpeded access to the markets of the EAEU countries made it possible to create conditions for increasing trade between countries, regardless of external factors. In the Doing Business 2018 rating, the EAEU takes 35th place out of 190 — an increase of five positions compared with 2017,” said Mamin.

The volume of mutual trade turnover of the EAEU for January - July 2018 amounted to $34.1 billion, an increase of 13.8% over the same period last year. The foreign trade of the members of the EAEU for January - July 2018 amounted to $419.6 billion, an increase of 22.7% over the same period in 2017.

To improve the business environment in the domestic market of the EAEU, 15 barriers in various industries were eliminated, which allowed businessmen to avoid significant financial costs.

Askar Mamin stressed that in order to ensure sustainable economic growth in the framework of the EAEU, it is necessary to pursue a coherent economic policy aimed at strengthening the competitiveness of the manufacturing sector. One of the main directions of this work should be the formation of common production processes aimed at integrating the competitive advantages of all members of the EAEU and reducing costs throughout the value chain.

“A plan for the development of 130 joint cooperation projects in such areas as space, medicine, natural resource extraction, ecology, and agriculture has been formed,” said Mamin.

Mamin also noted that the main issue for the further development of the production potential is digitalization. He stressed that “there is a high need for harmonization of digitalization between the EAEU countries, including in connection with the high sensitivity of the process to the backlogs in individual sectors or regions.”

The First Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan expressed confidence that the Eurasian Week will become an important tool for developing the economy, investment and export potential of the EAEU countries, further deepening the integration of business processes.

As part of his trip to Yerevan, Askar Mamin took part in the presentation “Modern Development Paradigm within the EAEU,” got acquainted with the work of the exhibition of goods of the manufacturing industry of the countries participating in the EAEU, and also participated in the meeting of the Council of the Eurasian Economic Commission.
