Head of State met with former European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso

During the meeting, the Head of State thanked José Manuel Barroso for participating in the upcoming meeting of the Astana Club, the press service of Akorda reported.

Nursultan Nazarbayev noted the contribution of the former chairman of the European Commission to the strengthening of relations between Kazakhstan and the European Union.

- I am very pleased with our new meeting. You have always supported Kazakhstan, and thanks to this, a partnership agreement was signed between our country and the European Union. Today, this document is undergoing the ratification process, the President of Kazakhstan said.

In turn, Jose Manuel Barroso thanked the Head of State for the meeting and the invitation to participate in the work of the Astana Club.

- It is a great honor for me to meet with you again. I remember your historical visit to Brussels, during which historical decisions were made to foster cooperation between Kazakhstan and the European Union. I am pleased to see that today Kazakhstan has maintained its stability and plays an important role in the region, the former chairman of the European Commission said.
