The Republic of Kazakhstan has joined the agreement on the creation of the International Transport and Transit Corridor between the Governments of the Islamic Republic of Iran, the Sultanate of Oman, Turkmenistan and the Republic of Uzbekistan (the Ashgabat Agreement).

The order on the accession of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Ashgabat agreement was given following the meeting of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the President of the Iranian Republic of Iran on September 8-9, 2014.

Cooperation of Kazakhstan with the members of this Agreement is particularly relevant in the framework of the implementation of the 65th step “Integration of Kazakhstan into international transport and communication flows” of the Plan of the Nation 100 concrete steps proposed by the Head of State.

The accession of the Republic of Kazakhstan to this Agreement was agreed upon by all the founding parties of the Ashgabat Agreement.

The project implementation contributes to the development of transport routes - the Kazakhstan section of the international transport corridor North-South, the Central Trans-Asian Railway, as well as access to the ports of the Persian Gulf and, in general, the realization of the transit potential of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
