Transit traffic of Kazakhstan will expand

On November 15-16, in Almaty, chaired by the First Vice-Minister of Investments and Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan Roman Sklyar and Deputy Minister of Transport of the People’s Republic of China Liu Xiaoming held the 11th meeting of the Subcommittee on Transport Cooperation of the Kazakhstan-China Cooperation Committee.

The meeting discussed a wide range of issues of bilateral cooperation in the field of road and air transport, as well as cooperation in the field of container traffic.

Thus, in the field of road transport, an agreement was reached to continue work on the implementation of the Agreement on the creation of favorable conditions for international road transport of the SCO member states.

In the field of civil aviation, the parties stressed the importance of opening additional slots at the airport in Beijing (two slots for Almaty and one slot for Astana).

In the field of container traffic, the parties agreed to continue work on expanding the geography of traffic in the direction of Turkey, the Caucasus, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan and Iran in transit through the territory of Kazakhstan.

The next 12th meeting of the Subcommittee on Transport of the China-Kazakhstan Cooperation Committee is scheduled to be held in China in 2019.
