Minister of Agriculture Saparkhan Omarov told about the current situation on the grain market and prices for bread in Kazakhstan at a press conference in the Government.

According to him, since the end of 2018 and before the beginning of 2019, there has been a positive increase in grain prices in our region, as well as an increase in demand. The price per ton of class 3 wheat reached 75 thousand tenge. This was due to price changes in our country, in Central Asia and in the global market as a whole.

“For the last two weeks we have seen a decline in the growth of grain prices in the domestic and export markets. As a result, the price per ton of class 3 wheat fell to 65–67 thousand tenge, depending on quality,” he said.

This is confirmed by the data of the auction of the State Register of holders of grain receipts, through which about 100% of transactions with the grain receipts themselves are recorded.

As Omarov informed, at present in the republic according to official statistics and operational data of akimats there are about 10.5 million tons of grain, of which 3.7 million tons are stored at licensed grain-receiving enterprises, 462 thousand tons are stored at flour-grinding enterprises agricultural producers — 6.3 million tons.

These data are confirmed by reporting on the portal of the State Register of holders of grain receipts, where online you can observe the current workload of all licensed grain enterprises, having the right to issue grain receipts.

“According to the calculated data, the available volume of grain is sufficient to ensure the planned export figures and ensure the domestic consumption of the country. Currently 8.3 million tons of wheat. Of these, 690 thousand tons are consumed for food needs, 1.6 million tons for use as seeds, 730 thousand tons for fodder, 128 thousand tons for industrial processing,” the minister said.

At the same time, it is planned to ship 2.2 million tons for export by the end of the current marketing year, while 6.7 million tons have already been shipped. The result is 2.9 tons as a carryover.
