Kazakh President meets with President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev in expanded format, reports the press service of Akorda.

During the meeting, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev conveyed to Shavkat Mirziyoyev greetings and good wishes from the First President of Kazakhstan - Elbasy Nursultan Nazarbayev, and stressed his invaluable contribution to the development of Kazakhstan-Uzbek relations.

“During the negotiations in a narrow format, we agreed to make all necessary efforts to ensure the continuity of our relations and further build the capacity of bilateral cooperation,” said the Head of State.

The President of Kazakhstan noted that such a policy is fully in line with the national interests of the two states, and pointed out the importance of the decision taken during the negotiations to raise the level of intergovernmental commissions to heads of government.

“We are watching the development of Uzbekistan with great interest.” You have achieved impressive results by embarking on reforms in a number of areas, including in improving government administration, liberalizing the economy, and increasing the well-being of the population, ”Kassym-Jomart Tokayev emphasized.

In turn, the President of Uzbekistan emphasized that the first state visit of Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to Uzbekistan as the President of Kazakhstan testifies to a strong commitment to the consistent deepening of the strategic partnership between the two countries.

- Strengthening friendship and good neighborliness with Kazakhstan is the most important priority of Uzbekistan’s foreign policy. We with Nursultan Nazarbayev managed to lay a solid foundation of the Kazakh-Uzbek relations and raise them to a qualitatively new level, ”concluded Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

In addition, during the meeting in a broad composition, the heads of state confirmed the coincidence of interests and positions on topical issues of bilateral and international interaction, in particular, within the UN, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea and other structures.

During the talks, the parties also discussed issues of ensuring security, close cooperation among law enforcement agencies, special services and defense departments, increasing passenger and freight traffic, mutual trade, enhancing industrial cooperation.
