On 19 June the Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Germany, Dauren Karipov, has held an introductory meeting with the Executive Director of the German Committee on Eastern European Economic Relations (Ost-Ausschuss – Osteuropaverein der deutschen Wirtschaft, OAOEV), Michael Harms, and the Committee’s Regional Director, Eduard Kinsbruner. It is reported by the press service of MFA.

The parties discussed preparation for joint events to be held by the Embassy and the OAOEV in the second half of this year. Namely, a round table discussion and business forum with leaders of German companies interested in investing in the Kazakh economy, as well as meetings of the Berlin Eurasian Club, scheduled to be held in October in Brussels and in December in Berlin.

During the meeting, Mr. Harms noted the positive results of previous events, including the meeting of the Intergovernmental Working Group on Trade and Economic Cooperation, the visit of the German business delegation to Nur-Sultan and the meeting of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Askar Mamin with the heads of German companies in May this year. In this regard, he expressed readiness to provide comprehensive support in the development of mutually-beneficial cooperation between Germany and Kazakhstan.

In turn, Ambassador Karipov thanked the leadership of the OAOEV for their assistance in the implementation of joint projects and the establishment of direct contacts between representatives of the business communities of Kazakhstan and Germany. He also stressed that the Committee, which represents the interests of German business in Eastern Europe and Central Asia, for many years has been an important partner for Kazakhstan in the development of trade, economic and investment cooperation with Germany.

Created in 1952, the OAOEV now unites about 200 German enterprises, from start-ups and family companies to the largest joint-stock companies and TNCs included in the DAX index. The main goals of the organization are support for small and medium-sized businesses, ensuring legal security and regulatory requirements, eliminating trade and visa barriers, as well as creating an economic space between the EU and the countries of Eastern Europe and Central Asia.
