A. Mamin instructs to speed up the connection of rural areas to the high-speed Internet

The meeting of the Government chaired by Prime Minister Askar Mamin discussed issues of providing broadband Internet access (broadband) in rural areas and development of 5G, primeminister.kz reports.

The Minister of Digital Development, Innovations and Aerospace Industry A. Zhumagaliyev and Chairman of the Board of Kazakhtelecom JSC K. Yessekeyev reported on the progress of works.

According to the instructions of Elbasy, given at the XVIII Congress of the party Nur Otan and the Head of state in the Address to the people of Kazakhstan on September 2 this year in the framework of the project "Auyl – El besigi" modernization of social and engineering infrastructure of rural areas.

By the end of 2022, 5089 villages, representing 95% of rural settlements, should have access to the Internet. This will allow villagers to access the benefits of obtaining e-government services, medical services and education, e-Commerce, as well as the widespread transition to new standards of living.

The Ministry of Digital Development, Innovations and Aerospace Industry is working on the construction of fiber-optic communication lines in rural areas (SNP) (1250 SNP up to 2020 inclusive), providing LTE coverage and laying wireless radio access networks (6019 SNP). At the same time, a new generation of 5G communications is being developed to provide wireless broadband access, the Internet of things, and high-speed technology. Currently, 5g tests are conducted in the cities of Nur-Sultan and Almaty, in October this year they are planned to be held in Shymkent.

The Prime Minister instructed the Ministry and Telecom operators to accelerate the construction of fiber-optic communication lines in the regions and connect rural settlements to high-speed Internet.
