Dariga Nazarbayeva meets with Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev

The President of the Senate of the Kazakh Parliament Dariga Nazarbayeva has met with Chairman of RF Government Dmitry Medvedev at the residence of the Prime Minister of Russia "Gorki", press service of the Senate reports. 

The Kazakh delegation headed by the speaker of the Senate Dariga Nazarbayeva is on an official visit to Moscow.

The parties noted that an intensive political dialogue has been established between the states, deep economic ties have been built, and cooperation in all spheres is developing effectively. There is an interest in the development of industrial cooperation, the implementation of bilateral projects between Kazakh and Russian enterprises.

During the discussion, the issues of legal provision of the conditions of movement and stay of citizens of Kazakhstan in the territory of Russia, changes in the status of border checkpoints, the creation of a common model Environmental code, the ecology of landfills in Kazakhstan, as well as the problems of distribution of water resources, including transboundary rivers were also discussed.

Also during the meeting, Dariga Nazarbayeva raised the issue of the situation with the supply of Kazakh coal to Russia and Ukraine. According to the speaker of the Senate, after the introduction of restrictions on the export of goods from Russia and transit through its territory to Ukraine, Kazakh enterprises, on the one hand, closed access to the Ukrainian market, on the other - significantly reduced the Russian market.

"Objectively, there are no other markets for Kazakh coal. The European direction due to falling prices and rising transport costs almost stopped. In such circumstances, Russian measures put our coal mining enterprises on the verge of stopping," D. Nazarbayeva said.

Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev noted the importance of the visit of the Chairman of the Senate of the Parliament of Kazakhstan. The head of the Russian Government made a special emphasis on the fact that relevant instructions were given on all the topics discussed.

"The issues that were raised today will find positive solutions. I instruct my Deputy Alexey Gordeev to take all necessary actions to create a joint Commission on the Ural river. Existing common issues need to be resolved on mutually beneficial terms," Dmitry Medvedev stressed.
