Tokayev holds a meeting on the development of Almaty

In his speech, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev reminded that the key indicators in the activity of akims are attracting investments, creating new jobs, developing infrastructure, supporting small and medium-sized businesses, as well as protecting the environment.

- The role of Almaty is very important. A lot of work is being done in the city, which can serve as an example for other regions. However, we should not forget that the further development of the city, improving the welfare of the population, improving the quality of life should always remain on the agenda, the Head of state stressed.

Kassym-Jomart Tokayev set a number of specific tasks for the development of the southern capital.

The first task of the President was to ensure high rates of economic growth in Almaty through the development of business and innovation. As an example, he cited the industrial zone of the city, where 33 companies are registered and more than 156 billion tenge has been invested. The Head of state drew attention to the fact that in the 7 years since the establishment of this zone, only 6 new enterprises were put into operation, and this year only 1 small factory was launched.

In this regard, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev recommended the mayor of the city to attract new projects to the industrial zone, primarily high-tech and export-oriented.


The President considers promising the development of innovations and the introduction of new developments, taking into account the fact that the city is home to the country's leading universities, there is a good scientific and human potential. At the same time, he pointed to the lack of serious developments in this area and instructed to use the potential of the FEZ "Park of innovative technologies".

The head of state also urged to intensify activities to improve the business climate and increase the investment attractiveness of the city.
