Tokayev visits Research institute of traumatology and orthopedics

Kassym-Jomart Tokayev learnt about operating and resuscitation rooms and talked the staff of the medical institution.

The President was also presented with the main performance indicators of the Institute and its own scientific developments.

NIITO is the only scientific, clinical and educational center in Kazakhstan engaged in the development, improvement and implementation of advanced technologies in the field of traumatology and orthopedics. Every day the center performs more than 50 operations, and in a year-more than 8 thousand. There are 14 clinical departments of the institute, designed for 385 patients. On the basis of these departments, three Republican centers were opened - joint replacement, arthroscopy and sports injury, spinal pathology.

During the meeting with the employees of the institution, the Head of state informed about the decision to build an additional medical building for 23.2 thousand square meters. According to the President, the outdated building of the research Institute does not meet the requirements of the time.

- In 2021, a new building will be erected on this site. 26 billion tenge is needed for construction. Despite the fact that it is quite an impressive amount, I will give the appropriate instruction to the Government, - said Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.

It is expected that the new building will be equipped with 6 operating rooms, rehabilitation centers for 300 seats, training units, as well as a mini-plant for the production of medical devices. It is expected that the commissioning of this building will increase the volume of high-tech medical services by 45%.

The staff of the Institute thanked the President for the support provided by the state. In turn, the Head of state praised the noble work of doctors and wished them further success.
