President of Tajikistan becomes Chairman of International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea

President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon has been elected chairman of the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea for a 3-year term.

Concluding the meeting in a narrow format, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan said that the heads Central Asian states decided to appoint President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon as President of IFAS for a period of three years.

"Thus, the chairmanship passes from Turkmenistan to Tajikistan. We all signed it," the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan said.

To call, the second consultative meeting of the heads of the Central Asian states was held today in Tashkent. The first President of Kazakshstan Nursultan Nazarbayev attended the meeting. 

The joint statement of the Central Asian leaders and the work plan for organization of the consultative meeting were adopted.
