Educational volunteering: Children from rural schools to be prepared for subject Olympiads and UNT

This was told by the Chairman of the Committee on Civil Society Affairs of the Ministry of Information and Social Development Aliya Galimova in the interview with PrimeMinister.kz.

According to her, within the educational direction of the development of volunteering, volunteers will help rural students learn English or computer literacy, as well as prepare for the Unified National Testing.

“We assume that, as part of educational volunteering, volunteers in all regions will go to the countryside and will help children from rural schools prepare for subject Olympiads, for more successful passing UNT and mid-term controls. Volunteers can give new skills in computer technology, robotics and other innovative areas,” said the chairman of the Committee.

So, in each region, 1,000 rural school students will be covered by volunteer assistance. In total, volunteers will help to increase the educational level of 14 thousand students.

In general, according to Galimova, volunteering in Kazakhstan is developing in seven key areas. These are educational, medical, environmental volunteering, mentoring to people in difficult situations, volunteering to eliminate technological disasters, emergencies, helping older people, people in institutions with special care, people with special needs, as well as volunteering for preservation of spiritual, cultural and historical values.

As part of medical volunteering, volunteers will work in hospices and cancer centers. In the event of man-made disasters and emergencies, volunteers will be ready to mobilize and confront the elements or man-made disaster.

Within the framework of the Qamqor direction, volunteers will help older people, people who are in institutions with special care, and people with special needs.

Also, according to Galimova, environmental volunteering is very actively developing in Kazakhstan, mentoring people in difficult situations “Birgemiz. Sabaqtastyq." The Asyl Mura direction will also be developed to preserve spiritual, cultural and historical values.
