Kazakhstan and Brazil to cooperate on mutual legal assistance in criminal cases

A number of new bills were approved at the plenary session of the Majilis under the chairmanship of the speaker of the Chamber Nurlan Nigmatulin, press service of the Majilis reports.

Majilis received the bill on ratification of the Agreement of Kazakhstan with Brazil for the extradition of persons.

The Agreement regulates the issues of interaction between the competent authorities of the two countries, defines in detail the conditions for extradition, and the grounds for refusing extradition.

In addition, the conditions for temporary detention, postponement of transfer and temporary extradition, and transit of the extradited person are indicated.

Majilis deputies also approved another Agreement between Kazakhstan and Brazil on mutual legal assistance in criminal cases. In accordance with the provisions of the Agreement, the parties shall provide mutual legal assistance for proceedings related to criminal cases, including any measures taken in connection with the investigation or prosecution of crimes.
