Kazakhstan and Russia organizes International SCIJ Meeting in Sochi

International meeting of the ski journalists' club (SCIJ) was held in Sochi. The partner of the meeting was the national company Kazakh Tourism, which presented the tourist opportunities and potential of Kazakhstan during the annual meeting. It is reported by press service of the Ministry of culture and sport.

130 ski journalists from 27 countries arrived at the Rosa Khutor resort in Sochi to participate in the 67th meeting of the SCIJ (Ski Club International des Journalistes).

In the period from January 20 to 25, participants will discuss current issues of the industry and take part in competitive starts in mountain and cross-country skiing. 

It should be noted that the club of ski journalists SCIJ has existed for more than 65 years and unites about 2,000 journalists from 32 countries - the leading ski countries of the world, such as Italy, Switzerland, France, Germany, the United States, Canada and others.

The team from Kazakhstan joined the international club in 2012 and has been actively involved for 9 years.


Traditionally, the annual meetings of the club are held on the best ski slopes in Europe, North and South America. The first meeting was held in Meribel, France, in 1955, and since then about 70 ski resorts have hosted members of the ski journalists ' club SCIJ.

This annual event is considered an informal world Cup for journalists in ski disciplines-mountain and cross-country skiing.

It is the first time the SCIJ meeting will be held in Russia since its creation. The event is organized by the SCIJ Kazakhstan and SCIJ Russia teams.
