International Turkic Academy: Academic Council's meeting held in Baku

The third session of the Academic Council of the International Turkic Academy was held in Baku.

Minister of education of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ceyhun Bayramov, head of the International Turkic Academy Darkhan Kydyrali, Executive Secretary of the Ministry of education and science of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kanat Sarsembayev, state Secretary of the Ministry of education and science of the Kyrgyz Republic Zhaparkul Tashiev, Chairman of the Council for education and educational work of the Ministry of education and science of the Republic of Turkey Burhanettin Donmez and President of the Azerbaijani Academy of Sciences Ramiz Mehdiyev attended the event. 

The meeting was also attended by heads of institutional structures of the Turkic world, in particular, Secretary General of the Turkic Council Bagdat Amreev, Secretary General of the TurkPA Altynbek Mamayusupov, head of the Turkic culture and heritage Foundation Gunay Efendieva, Deputy Secretary General of the TURKSOY Bilal Çakıcı, as well as ambassadors extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkey and Hungary to Azerbaijan.

At the meeting, the head of the Academy reported on the work done for 2019 and presented a work plan for 2020.

During the meeting, the Kyrgyz side handed over the duties of the Chairman of the Scientific Council of the International Turkic Academy to the representative of Azerbaijan. The members of the Scientific Council highly appreciated the work done in 2019, approved the Academy's work plan for 2020 and agreed to hold the next meeting in Turkey.

Members of the Council made specific decisions on a number of issues. In particular, they discussed the list of anniversaries of the Turkic world, issues of strengthening cooperation in the field of education and science, research projects, and approved priority areas.

It should be noted that among the significant dates of the Turkic world in 2020 are the 1300 anniversary of the Tonyukuk monument, the 1150th anniversary of al-Farabi, the 175th anniversary of Abay Kunanbayev, the 1025th anniversary of Manas, and the 150th anniversary of the prominent state and public figure, writer and publicist Nariman Narimanov.
