Kazakhstan's Ambassador to Portugal Daulet Batrashev paid a working visit to the southern region of Portugal, the Algarve, Kazakh MFA reports.

During the visit, Daulet Batrashev met with leadership of the administrative center of Faro, the Algarve coordination and development Commission,as well as representatives of the regional community.

During the conversation with the Chairman of the Commission for coordination and development of the Algarve, Francisco Serra, issues of cooperation in the trade and economic field, promotion of exports of domestic goods, as well as the development of cooperation in the tourism industry were discussed.

The Ambassador's meeting with the mayor of Faro, Rogerio Bacalhau, was dedicated to promising areas of cooperation with the Algarve. The interlocutors agreed that there are sufficient prerequisites for establishing close and fruitful cooperation at the regional level, highly appreciating the existing potential of the Kazakh-Portuguese cooperation.

The Portuguese politician expressed interest and readiness to establish good relations with the Kazakh city of Aktau. In addition, an agreement was reached to open the Honorary Consulate of Kaazakhstan in the Algarve this year.

In order to establish contacts with companies in the region, negotiations were held with Vitor Neto, President of the Algarve business Association, and Ana Fernandes, Executive Director of the trade and services Association.

The Kazakh diplomat informed about measures to protect foreign investors and practical aspects of doing business in Kazakhstan. Special attention was paid, first of all, to mutually beneficial cooperation in the field of tourism, high technologies and agriculture. In addition, the business community drew attention and interest in establishing a partnership in the field of logistics and cargo transportation, taking into account the geographical location and opportunities of Kazakhstan in terms of transit and transport potential.

The Algarve, Portugal’s southernmost region, is known for its Atlantic beaches and golf resorts. Whitewashed fishing villages on low cliffs overlooking sandy coves were transformed in the 1960s, and now its central coast between Lagos and Faro is lined with villas, hotels, bars and restaurants.

As a result of the meetings, the Algarve companies confirmed their interest in organizing economic missions to the regions of Kazakhstan to establish contacts with domestic business structures.
