Kazakhstan attends "C5+1" Ministerial meeting in Tashkent

Kazakh Foreign Minister Mukhtar Tleuberdi attended "C5+1" Ministerial meeting alongside Deputy Prime Minister of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov, Foreign Minister of Kyrgyzstan Chingiz Aidarbekov, Foreign Minister of Tajikistan Sirodjidin Mukhriddin, Foreign Minister of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov and US Secretary of State Michael Pompeo, MFA reports.

In his speech, M. Tleuberdi focused on strengthening regional cooperation between the Central Asian states, especially noting the high efficiency of the Consultative meetings of the leaders of the region's countries held in Nur-Sultan and Tashkent. The participants of the meeting stressed the importance of deepening regional cooperation in the field of economy, energy, environmental protection and security.

The Minister focused on the need to develop the existing transit and transport capabilities of the region, as well as the potential of the Central Asian regional energy market being created. The foreign Minister of Kazakhstan suggested using the international center for green technologies and investment projects as a platform for implementing initiatives in this area.

Following the results of the C5+1 Ministerial meeting, a Joint statement was adopted that reflects priority issues on the regional agenda.

The C5+1 format is a regional mechanism for interaction between Central Asian countries and the United States. The opening meeting of the foreign Ministers of the six countries was held on September 26, 2015 on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in new York. Seven meetings were held at the level of foreign Ministers.
