Measures taken to improve air quality in Almaty

Thermal power plant-2 in Almaty might use gas or filters can be installed to improve air quality in the city. This was announced by the Minister of ecology, geology and natural resources of Kazakhstan Magzum Mirzagaliyev.

"There is a discussion on air pollution in Almaty on social networks. I want to inform you that as one of the measures to improve air quality in Almaty, the President instructed to launch a feasibility study. Two options are being considered - switching to gas or installing filters at the TPP-2," Mirzagaliyev wrote on his Twitter page.

According to the Minister, the feasibility study of the project will be completed in April this year.

"After the feasibility study is completed, all the details of the project: cost, technical characteristics, emission reduction will be delivered to the public," the Minister tweeted.
