Kazakh President discusses situation in Central Asia at the MSC

The Head of state spoke at a panel session of the 56th Munich Security Conference on the topic "Geography matters: A Conversation on Central Asia". Afghan President Ashraf Ghani also participated in the discussion as a speaker. The event was moderated by an American diplomat, President of the Council on foreign relations Richard Nathan Haas, Akorda reports.

The event was held in the format of a live discussion, where the speakers shared their vision of solving security problems in Central Asia and were asked questions.

Speaking about the role of the region, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev expressed the opinion that its place in global geopolitics will only increase.

The President informed the forum participants about Kazakhstan's foreign policy priorities, country's relations with Russia, China, the EU, the United States and Afghanistan.

Ensuring regional security was one of the main issues discussed by the President. The head of state spoke about measures to combat drug trafficking and Kazakhstan's contribution to countering terrorism, detailing the results of operations "Jusan" and " Rusafa".

Kassym-Jomart Tokayev also shared the priorities of his presidency, the main directions of political and economic reforms. In this context, the President stressed that he attaches great importance to the diversification of the economy, the development of innovations and digitalization.

At the end of the session, the Head of state answered questions from the audience.
