Highlights from Kazakh President's bilateral meetings at MSC sidelines

Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev held several bilateral meetings on the 56th Munich Security Conference sidelines.

On the sidelines of the 56th Munich Security Conference Kassym-Jomart Tokayev met with the Secretary-General of the Organization for economic cooperation and development (OECD) José Ángel Gurría. The interlocutors discussed the current state and prospects for further development of cooperation between Kazakhstan and the OECD.

At the meeting with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev the parties discussed prospects of Kazakh-Azeri cooperation, exchanged views on regional and international agenda.

In the meeting with Prime Minister of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al-Khalid Al-Sabah Kazakh President noted that our countries have a huge bilateral potential in various economic areas such as construction, energy, agriculture, finance, investment and tourism.

At the meeting with President of Afghanistan Ashraf Ghani the leaders discussed trade and economic cooperation, promising areas of transport and logistics, humanitarian issues.

Kassym-Jomart Tokayev also met with Joe Kaeser, CEO of "Siemens" company. The President said that Kazakhstan is interested in cooperation with world-leading digital companies to develop a competitive economy.

The President also met with Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, WHO Director-General, on the margins of the MSC. They discussed pressing issues of interaction of KZ with the Organization, including joint measures on countering the spread of Coronavirus.

I updated him on the Coronavirus outbreak & thanked him for following WHO’s recommendations for preparedness & solidarity. In the meeting with Peter Maurer, President of the International Committee of the Red Cross, the parties discussed humanitarian interaction. "Kazakhstan shares the noble goals of the ICRC. The declared Year of volunteer in our country opens new opportunities for joint projects" Kazakh President said.
