Young Kazakh weightlifter sets a world record

Kazakh weightlifter Rahat Bekbolat set a world record among juniors at the Asian Championships in Tashkent.

The athlete of the Kyzylorda school of weightlifting lifted 356 kg (158+198) in the total of the double event, which is 14 kilograms more than the nearest competitor.

Thus, he became a Champion among boys under 17 and juniors under 20. He also set a world record for juniors. Iranian athlete Abolfazi Khaknur won silver with 342 kilograms (154 + 188), on the third place was Uzbek athlete Azimjon Khodzhiev, who lifted 333 kilograms (152+181) in the combined event.

14 women's and 18 men's teams from 20 countries of the Asian continent participated in the Junior and Junior Asian Weightlifting Championships. 10 athletes performed for Kazakhstan, all of them won prizes. In total, our team has 9 gold, 2 silver and 3 bronze medals.
