The Majilis, lower house of Kazakh Parliament has adopted the draft law "On amendments and additions to certain legislative acts on motherhood and childhood" initiated by deputies. The document considers additional 4 monthly calculation indicators for each child in large families with more than 7 children.

As previously reported, since January 1, 2020, Kazakhstan has introduced a new state allowance for large families with 4 or more minor children or full-time students under the age of 23. This state allowance is assigned and paid regardless of family income in differentiated amounts: with 4 children - 42,496 tenge; with 5 children - 53,127 tenge; with 6 children - 63,757 tenge; with 7 or more children - 74,388 tenge.

Amendments to the legislation were initiated by deputies to ensure fairness in providing social support to large families. If now the maximum amount of the benefit is 74.4 thousand tenge, then if the bill is adopted, families with more than 7 children will receive state benefits in the following amounts:

- with 8 children - 84,832 tenge;

- with 9 children - 95,436 tenge;

- with 10 children - 106,040 tenge;

- with 11 children - 116,644 tenge;

- with 12 children - 127,248 tenge;

- with 13 children - 137,852 tenge;

- with 14 children - 148,456 tenge.

The maximum amount of the benefit is calculated for one family from the North Kazakhstan region, where there are 15 children, they will receive 159,060 tenge (under the current system of assigning this type of benefit, this family receives 74.4 thousand tenge).

The increase will affect 2,451 families. Of them with 8 children – 1 501 family with 9 – 729 10-th – 168, with 11 – 35, with 12th – 7, 13th – 6, 14th – 4 15th – 1 family.

To date, 392 thousand families have been assigned benefits. In total, the budget provides 177.6 billion tenge for the payment of state subsidies to large families in 2020.

Recall that during the years of independence, Kazakhstan has built a national model of support for motherhood and childhood, which is presented in the form of 8 state benefits and 3 payments. In total, 682.9 billion tenge is provided for these purposes in 2020.
