Kazakhstan continues to monitor citizens arriving from China and neighboring states, Healthcare Ministry says.

Between January 6th and February 28th, 32,456 people crossed state border between Kazakhstan and China.
Specialists from Quality Control, Goods and Services Safety Committee monitored 32,456 people that crossed the state border with China on entry-points in international airports and railway stations between January 6 and February 28.

The Committee monitored 24,469 arrivals. 27 people are still under the medical supervision who had arrived within the last 14 days.

In total, on March 1 186 people were hospitalized with fever and signs of acute respiratory infection, 166 people were discharged, 20 people in hospitals.

Also, on February 23, 2020 at 02:30 am a flight from Tokyo arrived at Nur -Sultan with 20 citizens of Kazakhstan on board (including 4 passengers from the Japanese liner Diamond Princess). All passengers were hospitalized for quarantine for medical and laboratory examinations. Their health condition is satisfactory.

Biological samples of all of the hospitalized travellers were sent to the National Science Center for Hazardous Infections in Almaty for additional check.

Kazakhstan has all the necessary drug and medical products for supportive therapy, isolation boxes in infectious hospitals are prepared.

The situation is under constant control of Healthcare Ministry.

The Ministry of Healthcare reminds that in order to prevent the spread of the new coronavirus infection it is recommended to follow preventive measures:

  • Wash your hands and face with soap often and thoroughly;
  • Use alcohol-based hand sanitizers (antiseptics);
  • Avoid public places;
  • Avoid contact with sick people;
  • in case of symptoms of flu (increased body temperature, nasal congestion, cough, sore throat) it is necessary to consult with a medical doctor that serves your region of residence.
