Al-Farabi Center opened in Lithuania capital

As part of the celebration of the 1150th anniversary of the world-famous thinker and scientist, the center named after the philosopher and thinker Abu Nasr al-Farabi was opened in the Lithuanian House of national communities, MFA reports.

During the opening ceremony, M. Baymukhan informed the guests about the role of the "Second teacher of the world" who made a fundamental contribution to many areas of science. He stressed that the anniversary of the great thinker of the East is included in the UNESCO calendar of memorable dates and events and will be widely celebrated on an international scale.

The Kazakh diplomat also noted that the legacy of al-Farabi as well as al-Biruni became the starting point for the formation of European science, served as an endless source of inspiration for the greatest people of Europe at the beginning of the Renaissance.

It should be noted that visitors to the al-Farabi Center which is open at the site of the Kazakh society "Nursaule" in the Lithuanian House of national communities will be able to get acquainted not only with the works of the great scientist but also to get to know the Kazakh culture and traditions. First of all, its activities will be aimed at the development of cultural and scientific dialogue between Kazakhstan and Lithuania.
