Coronavirus update in Kazakhstan

Kazakhstan continues to monitor citizens arriving from China and neighboring states.

According to the Border Service of the National Security Committee of the Republic of Kazakhstan, from February 1 to February 29 1 606 851 people arrived from all countries, including 938 309 from the EEU countries.

Between January 6th and March 1th, 32,456 people crossed the state border between Kazakhstan and China.
A specialist from the Committee for Quality Control, Goods and Services Safety of the Ministry of Healthcare monitored 32,456 people that crossed the state border with China on entry-points in international airports and railway stations between January 6 and March 1.

Medical organizations continue to monitor the health of arrivals from countries which are divided into 3 categories.
There are 339 people in 1 “A” quarantine, and 512 people in 1 “B” home isolation category.

50 people were hospitalized on March 4 with fever and acute respiratory viral infections, of which 12 people were assigned 1st “B” category; 2nd category - 23 people; 3rd category – 15 people. 15 people out of 36 hospitalized was discharged.

A total of 6923 people were taken for monitoring. 1965 people are in 2nd category remote monitoring (dialling 14 days), 3rd category remote monitoring (dialling 24 days) – 4985 people. 35 people were removed from the 3rd category.

Also, on February 23, 2020, at 02:30 am a flight from Tokyo arrived to Nur-Sultan with 20 citizens of Kazakhstan on board, including 4 passengers from the Japanese liner Diamond Princess. All passengers were hospitalized for quarantine for medical and laboratory examinations.

Biological samples of all of the hospitalized travellers were sent to the National Science Center for Hazardous Infections in Almaty for additional check. Specialists in this centre have mastered the technique for PCR-based diagnostics of the new coronavirus.

Kazakhstan has all the necessary drug and medical products for supportive therapy; prepared isolation boxes in infectious hospitals and medical workers of all level.

The situation is under constant control of the Ministry of Healthcare of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The Ministry of Healthcare reminds that to prevent the spread of the new coronavirus infection, we should all follow the preventive measures:

- Wash your hands and face with soap often and thoroughly;
- Use alcohol-based hand sanitizers (antiseptics);
- Avoid public places;
- Avoid contact with sick people;
- in case of symptoms of flu (increased body temperature, nasal congestion, cough, sore throat) it is necessary to consult with the medical doctor, that serves your region of residence.
