Russia reports first death from Covid-19

A 79-year-old becomes the first Russian death due to the virus.

Russia has announced that a 79-year-old woman with coronavirus and other underlying health issues died from pneumonia, the country's first confirmed death resulting from the pandemic.

Nearly 220,000 people have now been confirmed with the coronavirus globally, and while at least 84,000 people have recovered from COVID-19, more than 8,800 have died, according to data from Johns Hopkins University in the US.
