Jeenbekov to visit China before SCO summit in Bishkek

Kyrgyz President Sooronbay Jeenbekov will pay a working visit to China before the summit of member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, which will be held in Bishkek in June this year, wrote kabar.kg.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of China to the Kyrgyz Republic Du Dewen told that the Kyrgyz leader is flying to a neighboring country to participate in the II One Belt, One Road Forum. There will also be a bilateral meeting with Chinese leader Xi Jinping.

Afterwards, the leader of the PRC will arrive in Kyrgyzstan to participate in the SCO summit, after which the status of his working visit will acquire the state status.

“The SCO summit will be held in June. First, the President of Kyrgyzstan will leave for China to participate in the II One Belt, One Road Forum. This will be a very important event. There will be a meeting between our leaders. After that, our President will come to Kyrgyzstan to attend the SCO summit and pay a state visit,” the diplomat said.

She noted that the state visit of the Chinese leader to the Kyrgyz Republic is an important event for both sides.

“We have been waiting for this visit for a long time. The first visit was made six years ago in 2013. We very much hope that it will take our cooperation to a new level and bring our people closer together,” the ambassador commented.

The conversation of the Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to the Kyrgyz Republic with journalists took place after Du Dewen presented credentials to President Sooronby Jeenbekov in the White House. She told that the meeting with the head of state was held in a friendly atmosphere, which allowed the sides to discuss a number of issues on bilateral cooperation.
